Basic Typing Word processing/typing on an iPad is a little different than on a computer, but it is not hard to master. A good app for word processing is Pages. Basic challenge: Write yourself a note in "Notes" Creating: Final Challenge: Put it all together (art, photos, and text) into a screen cast using Explain Everything or a mini web page using Smore , or an iBook using Book creator or any book app Explain Everything - a screen casting tool A screen cast is a recording of everything that you are doing on your screen. Khan academy is a famous example of screencasting. You can keep folder and notes (with audio, and photo and import options) on everything. They are easy to search and send. Quick tips for your first note How to use Evernote to make student portfolios Evernote has a multitude of helpful components, including Skitch for annotating photos, Penultimate which is a handwriting App , and Hello, which is a tool for organizing contacts and more. All of these apps synch to your evernote folders. Evernote Challenge: Set up your own Evernote Flipboard is an app which keeps all of your favorite blogs, tweets, websites, and other information organized in an easy-to-read magazine format. Flipboard is an easy way to keep up with the latest ideas used in technology in the classroom (plus it;s fun for other subjects as well... cooking, art, news, anything!) Diigo This is a social bookmarking website that allows users to easily collect and curate their favorite links to articles, blogs and more (anything with a weblink) Users can tag them for easy organizing. Challenge: set up a Diigo account and add an article. If you like Diigo and want to save things to it, bookmark it as a favorite. Collaborating Collaborating on an iPad is similar in a lot of ways to collaborating on a laptop. For example, Email, Google docs, twitter and Facebook work on both quite easily. Teacher's Guide to Using Twitter Tweetdeck Tagboard (not an app - online) Easily search any hashtag. Easy to read and follow the idea. Finds hashtags from Twitter, facebook, instagram, etc.. (Idea: Create your own hashtag. Have kids save their research to it on Twitter. Create your own Tagboard with that hashtag and use it in class as a resource or send it to parents to show them the work.) Challenge: Explore hashtags. Find a tweet with a link and add it to your Diigo collection!!!! Cybraryman eductional hashtag list Discuss: How could you use Tagboard in your classroom? Today's meet.
